Knowsley Chamber Newsletter
Thank you to everyone who has responded to my request for feedback on the Local Enterprise Partnership model. There will be a meeting of the Chief Executives from Knowsley, Liverpool, Halton, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral in the next 4 weeks, and I will ensure that comments and issues are considered as part of our discussions. Obviously, there is much uncertainty at present, and until the Government’s White Paper is released in mid August, speculation and rumour are rife.
On a much more sound footing, I am delighted to see that the Knowsley Apprentice Scheme has been launched. One of our own members, Sterling Services, took up the opportunity and offered 19 year old Joseph Birch an apprenticeship as Trainee Estimator. On speaking to Paul, the MD of Sterling Services, he certainly rated the scheme, and it brought tangible benefits to his company. This message was also echoed by Balfour Beatty, at the event held at the impressive Halewood Centre for Learning. It was so inspirational to hear their apprentices speak in glowing terms about the training and development which they had received. Good luck to all Knowsley Apprentice
applicants and thank you to the local businesses who are offering such great opportunities to our young people.
